Capital Combat offers submission fighting/wrestling in the form of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).

Capital Combat is affiliated with EQUIPE MESTRE WILSON JIU JITSU under the guidance of Professor Minol Tavares Tutida located in Melbourne www.emwjj.com. Capital Combat embraces and enforces  the Mission Statement of Equipe Mestre Wilson Jiu-Jitsu Australia, to focus on providing its members with the highest possible standard and the most up to date international level in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Techniques. Whilst on this journey it aims to educate its students to be the best they can be both on and off the mat, ensuring they are the best individual they can be.

BJJ emphasises techniques where submission holds involving joint locks and chokeholds are applied. The advantage of a larger, stronger opponent comes from superior reach and more powerful strikes - these perceived advantages are largely negated when wrestling on the ground. Once an opponent is on the ground, a number of manoeuvres (and counter-manoeuvres) are available to manipulate the opponent into suitable position for the application of a submission hold. This system of movement and manipulation can be likened to a game of chess contested between two experienced players.

BJJ is a martial art form that requires skill and efficiency, not brute strength. This style of combat is built on the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant using correct leverage and technique understanding. 

BJJ encompasses techniques that teach you how to protect yourself and to effectively defend from your back, commonly perceived as a weak position to be in.
